General Downloader can help you accelerate and manage download tasks. This application can be set to start along with the system and run from the System Tray, from where it can monitor the clipboard to start new download jobs automatically. Moreover, it also installs extensions on web browsers, like Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, which allows it to detect downloadable contents. It can also let you perform direct searches on sites such as rapidshare.com, 4shared.com, depositfiles.com and mediafire.com. Then, you can easily use the resulting URLs to create new tasks. Moreover, you can add new download links manually, but only if you are a registered user.
As a whole, General Downloader is a fine application with a nice and intuitive interface. As other download managers, this application can perform various tasks simultaneously and various threads to accelerate download speed. Moreover, it supports pausing and resuming downloads. However, its range of functions makes it not as versatile as other tools of the same type. Although it allows multiple file types, it does not seem to support downloading streaming media. Unfortunately, it supports neither multiple protocols nor downloading complete websites.
